Love that Maple!

I’m a big fan of maple syrup….the smell, the taste, the romanticism about tapping a tree and letting the sap drain into a bucket.  All in all, it’s quite a wonderful nectar of nature. Not surprisingly, maple has become the adjunct du jour in the Stout world, and frankly, I’m thrilled.  The addition of mapleContinue reading “Love that Maple!”

Is size important?

The Stout world seems to be confused about size.  If you go to your favorite bottleshop or taproom, you’ll see Stouts in 12oz cans, 16oz cans, 19oz cans (BA TENFIDY), 11.2 oz bottles,  12 oz bottles, 16oz bottles, 500ml bottles, 22oz bombers and 750ml bottles, and in rare cases, 1 liter bottles (yes, Rogue I’mContinue reading “Is size important?”

Some Recent Reviews

I’ve been busy lately, but not too busy to be tasting and reviewing some recent releases and getting re-acquainted with some old friends.   See my Recent Reviews page for my reviews, my observations, and my ratings, but as a preview,  here are a few of my recent tastings: I try and review at leastContinue reading “Some Recent Reviews”

The Busy Season

October 19, 2015 Today’s post will be rather brief.  This is becoming the busy season for Stout releases.  We’ve just seen the annual release of Founder’s Breakfast Stout and many of the local breweries are hopping on the Stout release train – Lonerider with “Pistols at Dawn”, Fullsteam with IGOR, Son of IGOR, and SeñorContinue reading “The Busy Season”
